Week 1

Week 1 is over!  Today was a lot of fun surprisingly too!  I did the scheduled workout and lasted 13.5 minutes, great idea to put the towel over the time, thanks Bree!  Sunday is a rest day then next week is the same workout schedule as this week, goal for next week to beat this weeks times.

Dr. Appointment on Tuesday, will be fun to get the A1c, and other #'s and compare them again in 12 weeks.  As far as sugar levels go, they've been a lot better this week, I'm anxious to schedule an appointment with a nurse and dietitian to see about eating the right foods and changing that lifestyle as well.  I've been referred before but never really done any planning so I figure if I'm going to run this marathon and change my life I should change my eating habits too.

Still no time for weights, maybe when the sun is out more I'll have more motivation to do a run in the morning and life in the p.m.  I really want to weigh myself but I'm going to hold out for end of week three so hopefully I see a bigger number and keep motivation rather than see a small number and get discouraged.

Week 1 almost over

I'd say the week was a success, I was supposed to run 4 minutes then walk 2 minutes.  Why is it feel like the two minute walk goes so quick and the four minute run is FOREVER?  So day one was 3 miles, I didn't track my time, I should have but didn't the only time I can remember is Wednesday and that was 4 miles in 56:00, that is a 14 minute mile.  Today was 3 miles and I got done in 39 minutes so that was a 13 minute mile.  Saturday is a run until you can't stop day so my trainer suggested that I put a towel over the time and run until I can't then I won't know how much time has gone by and it takes some of the phycology out of it.

Talk about great sugar levels this week too!

Next weeks routine is the same as this week, no time for weight training yet so the goal for next week will be to beat this weeks times and follow the 4/2 plan closer.

Have a great weekend!

Signed up for part one

So I went to the Eagan Community Center today and signed up for their weight loss challenge.  The key goal for this is to have use to a indoor facility to start my training for the Twin Cities Marathon.  It cost $89.00 and will allow me to run and build my endurance so that when the 16 week training is here my body will be able to handle the training needed.

So weighing in and taking the before picture was a bit more awkward than I thought it would be, a couple of women looked over, I believe it was three and based on their expressions they weren't thinking, "wow, look at that hottie" I imagine their thoughts were a mix between "omg, you look ridiculous" or "good for you, you can do it" or "good lucky buddy, I might check you out someday"  sure I'm married but getting a lady to turn her head at me could be nice for self esteem, confidence, and who doesn't like being checked out?

Weighed in at 249.4, if I can get my hands on the before picture I'll post it.  I am able to use the facility starting February 7th, all those that have been asking me how the running has been going, IT STARTS 2/7/11!

Registration for the marathon opens at 12:01 a.m. Feb. 2nd so that is an hour or so away and I plan to stay awake and register, once I register it is real and I am stuck running.

Futures post will be in a few weeks, either with week 1 results or after the week 3 weigh in, we'll see how it goes.
