Work out 2
So last week my glucose was 298 before going in and 224 coming out. I had breakfast and took some insulin to cover most of the breakfast but not quite all of it. Today going in I was 198 and I didn't eat breakfast nor did I take any insulin and I left at 268. I recall my Dr. saying that your body will take stored carbs and throw that into your system as your burning carbs, the problem is since I don't produce insulin it is a crap shoot and usually end up higher than going in. My goal next Sunday is to go in at 200 and leave at 100, breakfast and insulin will have to be part of that day.
Todays workout again was a walk/run routine until I hit four miles. Last week it took 64 minutes to accomplish that distance but today I got it done in 58 minutes. I think I'll continue with this routine until I can jog the entire four miles. Once my endurance hits that I may add some interval training as well as hit the weights. The weight loss challenge starts on February 8, I would like to be able to jog the 4 miles by the end of February, I think that is a fair goal considering I get winded when I run downstairs at work and take the elevator back up.

Thanks Andrew
My older brother Andrew texted me last night to see if I wanted to use one of his guest passes for the Eagan Community Center to do some working out, good thing he did this was my first work out in preparation for the marathon. Originally I was going to do the elliptical machine but was convinced to run/walk on the treadmill in order to start building up my tolerance. I walked most of the way but did increase the heart rate with an occasional minute run, in all I went 4 miles in 64 minutes so this just under a seven hour run for the marathon at that same pace, it is also a good point to say "look where I've started at, and look where I am now" later closer to race time.
I ate breakfast, had my blood sugar high because I usually burn quite a bit down during the activity, I was surprised when I tested at the end because I didn't burn like I thought I would but then again I also mostly walked. Going in I was 298, leaving 225, I'm sure after Subway for lunch I'll be back down to 125 or so.
On the way out of the gym I noticed a sign for a weight loss challenge that starts Feb 8th and runs 12 weeks. This would be perfect timing because right when that is over I'll need to be outside preparing for the marathon. It cost $89 and allows the use of the equipment so it is cheaper than a membership. First place for one male and one female is a free membership for a year, I could totally win that prize and be on my was to a successful marathon.

Shoes
I went and looked at some shoes today, holy moly they are expensive! Expensive but felt like I was walking on air. I have some other shoes I can try out, the first few weeks are walk, light jog anyhow so I'll get a few weeks of general activities and then take the plunge to buy the shoes.

Need some help
So this question is for anyone that has already run a marathon or attempted one. I'm looking for a good six month training program to get me prepared for this. I'm going to schedule an appointment with my doctor for early February to learn more about how this will impact my diabetes. I'll probably meet with a nurse and dietitian quarterly and we have a nurse line I can take advantage of through work for additional medical assistance.
My biggest concern with this run is how I'll keep my glucose level high enough to not pass out. I was reading another article about a diabetic that started his run at 180, knew how often he needed to drink Gatorade for carb replenishment, and even had a back up to meet him half way through to test himself. At their halfway point he decided to just finish the race because he felt good and when he finished and tested he was at 103! Inspiring story, a lot to live up to(or die to).

Blog creation
Created a blog, my hopes are this is an easy way to track progress or lack of. I will also post A1c, daily numbers for insulin intake, carbs eaten, and overall activity for the day.
Am I for real on this goal? Just like when I quit drinking, I'll take this one day at a time.
